With the passing of time, trends and fads come and go. But there’s one that I truly believe is here to stay and that is “knowing where your food comes from”. It may not be something that everyone is mindful of but it does seem to be a growing concern for lots of people. So where do you begin? You may not have a direct connection to a producer but chances are someone you know does.
You ask a friend or make a post on social media asking where to go. Luckily with the growing trend there are more producers making their products available in a direct to consumer option. And there’s reassurance in purchasing a product if the referral comes from a friend. I’m a firm believer in word of mouth and how that helps small businesses thrive.
It’s one thing to be able to grab a name brand product from the store and know that it’s going to be good and then there is blind trust placed in a product. Whether it’s because someone raved about it or you’re just willing to take the risk to try something new, not everyone takes that leap, especially when you need to be mindful of where your money is going. Who wants to waste money on a bad product? I certainly don’t. And that’s why I need to be certain that the items I make available to my customers are as high quality as I claim them to be. I’d be a pretty bad producer if my family and I didn’t consume the same products we offered to the public.
When I first approached my father in law with this plan, I had no idea what I was really getting us into, but I knew I wanted to make it happen. People were still reeling from the effects the pandemic had on… well… everything, but especially food. And I wanted people to be able to feed their families with food they could easily have access to, could afford and most importantly, trust. Mark has been in this business for quite some time and there is no one better I would put full faith in to raising these cattle. There is quality in their upbringing, their feed, and that shows in the final product. For that final product we chose our processor for a few reasons - they are USDA certified, they dry age for 14-21 days, they have a great reputation, but they also happen to be a personal friend and someone I can put all my faith and trust into for a great finished product.
My goal has been and will always be to provide you with a premium-high quality product. Many aspects of this business will change, but that will not be one of them. Thank you all for trusting us to be a part of how you nourish yourselves and your family.
I appreciate you all and hope to see you soon!
